Meet Elizabeth Mathew, an international handballer from Jalingo Taraba state, A Graduate of Taraba State University BSc sociology Class of 2022. She's Bandawa by tribe.
She has been into sports since April 2009, at 16 years old, playing handball. She's influenced by her elder brother, who introduced her to the sport after seeing her height and invited her to join and start playing handball. He said Your structure fits the handballer criteria. She's an active and strong Attacker and defender. Her first team was Kada Queens in Kaduna state, where she stayed for 3 years and later left to Join Rima's Queens in Sokoto. She moved to ASPCA in Benin Republic and is currently playing for the team.
Growing up in her career she encountered challenges but was easy for her with the guidance of her Mentor Jacobs Ayuba Professional who also held from Jalingo Taraba, He has played a vital role in coaching and building her sports career, She faced challenges in language when communicating with player's outside the country
She visited 3 countries: Bukin Fasso, Morocco, and the Benin Republic. She also won cups as First position Once, Second position twice, and third position once in Premier League Nigeria, HFN. Handball Federation of Nigeria.
The Journey is quite tough but with patience, you Will enjoy the movement, Be serious and concentrate on your skills and focus she Advice the coming handball players, She also stated respect is a key to success and to do anything necessary to understand the teaching the pattern would take you where you want to go in life.
Her greatest dream is to move forward in her profession to uplift others coming into the field of handball. She is concerned about the lack of support from her State government; She calls on the state to support Sports to push the State's name internationally.
