Taraba now open for legal minings - Govt declare

Taraba State government has declared that the arrest of illegal miners in the state last week has created a space for legal miners to operate.

We had earlier reported that the state government tax force on mining led by General Jeremiah Faransa had last week arrested over 3000 illegal miners in Bali’s local government area of the state.

Mr. Emmanuel Bello, the special adviser to governor Agbu Kefas on media and digital communication, stated this in a press statement on Monday said that the state government was not against mining activities hence it was recreative, that the government was only putting her best to ensure licensed and legal mining to develop state through the natural resources.

Bello noted that Governor Kefas’s administration was committed to encouraging legal business activities to boost the development of Taraba and improve the lives of her citizens.

“The government of Governor Kefas is not against mining activities. Her motive is to ensure licensed and legal mining to develop the state through natural resources.

“The arrest of illegal miners last week by a tax force committee led by General Faransa, is an open space for legal miners to operate and attend to the profit the state is poised to gain.

“Apart from this drain on the state economy, illegal mining was at the heart of urban criminality and rural rascality which was a threat to the financial fortunes of the state and her security.

“The state government wishes to salute the courage of the tax force committee led by General Faransa, in her effort to ensure the government restores the state fortune in the mining sector for a greater development of Taraba
